iDisplay App Reviews

1024x768 resolution is completely unacceptable

I literally just bought this app, got everything installed and it connected perfectly... Then I noticed that my iPad pro is stuck displaying in 1024x768 resolution... everything is cropped and looks terrible. They said its windows 10 compatible, but I guess thats just not correct... Dont waste your $15 unless they fix it...

Works smooth with Lightning

Great thing, using it with cable and sometimes with wifi

Great app!

Helpful app for desktop tools, but it doesnt support with 60 frames per second; can you upgrade it please, thanks!

Works great on Win10 64-bit with iPad 2

Ive been using it as a 2nd monitor to run another browser for watching video lessons while coding on main monitor or controlling music apps. The only caveat was that initial configuration was not obvious. I had to go into Control Panel > Network & Internet > Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings > Inbound Rules > "iDisplay Server" for BOTH "public" and "private" to "allow" (green check mark) to get it to finally connect. Not sure if related, but I also installed/upgraded to latest iTunes on Windows so that the latest bonjour service was installed as I kept getting bonjour Windows event log app errors while troubleshooting connection issues. Also recommend complementing with Dexpot virtual desktops and UltraMon both for Windows to make a great multi monitor experience.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TECH SUPPORT

I debated about giving this app a one-star but it works fine over wifi, however, trying to connect it using the wired connection in Windows 10 was extremely frustrating. Not to account for the multiple crashes of the driver for Windows. I contacted tech support and four weeks later never heard from them. I regret buying this app and giving this company my money. Definitely would not recommend this app to anyone.

Looks horrible

The connection looks completely smeared and horrible. On top of that, it broke my ability to connect using VNC.

Pretty great performance and a worthwhile app.

This latest update seems to have fixed a few issues I was having. Most importantly, the performance has dramatically improved, particularly over USB connection. I am very happy to say that this app works close to perfect for my needs. There are some minor issues I have that I would love to see ironed out, but it is made up for by the fact that the developer team is still actively working on the app after many years. Keep up the good work guys!

Smooth like butter

This update made iDisplay super fast, especially over USB. Videos are now playing lag free and for everything else it is also fantastic. Great job on this update!

Thank You. This version works great.

Best 20$ app. Dont need a surface pro now. Not sure about past versions, but this one has no lag. . Landscape works fine. Audio even works. Works just as easy as an actual second monitor. Full touch controls work! Works with windows 10. Thank you developers.

Amazing update!

The previous version was already pretty good, but this update is more an upgrade. There is practically no lag, and my Mac also stopped heating up, which is great. Although I mostly use iDisplay for PDFs and presentations, the boost in speed is very welcomed. Definitely worth the $20!

Program is D.O.A.

I gave this app one star only because they won’t allow me to give it zero stars. I downloaded the desktop program for this app and it refused to run on my iMac or my MacBook Pro. Both computers are fully compatible according to the web site. Because the Mac program won’t run the iPad app is useless. Tech support is a waste of time as the problem doesn’t show up on their FAQs and after 4 days they still haven’t responded to the 2 inquiries I made on their web site. I would not recommend buying this software or doing business with this company.

Crashes System

Dont buy, crashes my system at least once a day. A big waste of money at $19 bucks.

Works flawlessly!

I dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. Ive had this app for months, and it connects, and works, very well for me. I was raving about it to a friend, went to copy the App Store link, and saw the bad reviews. In my opinion, theyre misguided. Must be an issue with their computers, or maybe they dont know that you have to install a companion app on your Mac to get it to communicate? Who knows...

Works but has many bugs

It works but has many bugs. There is a considerable lag while using the secondary display and it keeps breaking while trying to mirror displays. This app is good but it is not ready yet. I wouldnt recommend purchasing it now but probably in the future after the bugs are fixed.

Works Great for me!

Works great, very easy to set up. I am concerned with the lack of use on the developer’s website and twitter account, as I wonder how long support will last for this app, but I like it. One issue I see is the lag time when using my iPad or iPhone as a second screen, not sure if that is the app, or just way it goes when working with wifi. But I recommend this app.

Not for video display

I purchased iDisplay so I could use my iPad as a secondary monitor for displaying videos. My mistake for not doing more research. The app’s notes mentioned that video was “laggy,” but it would not let me drag a video window onto my iPad at all. (My main machine is an iMac.) I must mention, in response to other reviews that take issue with set up that my set up and overall ease of use was fine. Fingers crossed that further updates of this app smooth things out.

JUNK

If I could assign a negative rating I would. My coworkers MacBook will no longer boot up. Thanks a ton. You will be giving me a refund. #MajorFAIL

Poorly Done

Very poorly created. Causes constant Blue Screens on a highend gaming laptop. Not worth it.

Run away. Just run away.

I got this largely to use a first generation iPad as a second screen for my Mac, while traveling. I can’t speak for the quality of the iPad application, because I never got a chance to use it; the application for the Mac, though — and you need the Mac app in order to make use of the iPad app -- is an abomination. It throws a ton of bug messages during startup (if you’ve got verbose booting on), and then threatens to crash the whole system. Attempting to uninstall is laughable — clicking on the “Uninstall” app only throws you a dialogue saying that the app is damaged and, therefore, unable to run and should be deleted. You end up having to dive into the package and run the AppleScript from the editor... which is way more trouble than anyone should need to go through to uninstall and application that shouldn’t require a reboot anyway. I don’t know. Maybe they haven’t had a chance to update it for OSX 10.10, or maybe they just don’t care because plenty of people have had similar complaints all the way back to Snow Leopard, as well as on Windows. Some of those people had to entirely reinstall their OS… I was lucky in that I know a bit and figured out how to get it to uninstall. At least, I think it’s uninstalled. Lord knows. It’s a shame, though, because this is a promising concept that just fails due to poor implementation.

Great App

I like to use this when I work from home. I am used to having multiple monitors. I find it best works when you mostly want to use it to display a document or application, and then work on the laptop.
