Run away. Just run away.
I got this largely to use a first generation iPad as a second screen for my Mac, while traveling. I can’t speak for the quality of the iPad application, because I never got a chance to use it; the application for the Mac, though — and you need the Mac app in order to make use of the iPad app -- is an abomination. It throws a ton of bug messages during startup (if you’ve got verbose booting on), and then threatens to crash the whole system. Attempting to uninstall is laughable — clicking on the “Uninstall” app only throws you a dialogue saying that the app is damaged and, therefore, unable to run and should be deleted. You end up having to dive into the package and run the AppleScript from the editor... which is way more trouble than anyone should need to go through to uninstall and application that shouldn’t require a reboot anyway.
I don’t know. Maybe they haven’t had a chance to update it for OSX 10.10, or maybe they just don’t care because plenty of people have had similar complaints all the way back to Snow Leopard, as well as on Windows. Some of those people had to entirely reinstall their OS… I was lucky in that I know a bit and figured out how to get it to uninstall. At least, I think it’s uninstalled. Lord knows. It’s a shame, though, because this is a promising concept that just fails due to poor implementation.
